Founding a School Inspired by Waldorf Education
in Lake County, CA
We are a new tuition-free public charter school
based on the principles of Waldorf education
that will open with grades TK-2
in September 2023 in Kelseyville, California.
We will then add one grade per year
until we offer grades TK-8.
We believe that by honoring simplicity,
we will nurture the spark of the individual
and nourish a thriving community.
Our mission is to cultivate inspired learners
through education that engages head, heart, and hands.
Our Waldorf Inspired Method
The Waldorf inspired approach flows to us through a century of tradition, yet it’s an education model that dynamically responds to the place and the people where it settles.
This lasting education fosters dynamic thinking, creativity, and compassion – inspiring children to contribute their unique gifts to the world.
Over 1,000 Waldorf-inspired schools worldwide focus on nurturing the whole child. At Shade Canyon, our Waldorf-inspired education centers around inspiring lifelong learners.
Long ago, high on dry and brush-covered Mount Konocti, a saddle canyon created a haven of shade. There, a grove of canyon oaks grew up together. Their thick trunks now spiral up a hundred feet, into a canopy that refreshes any traveler that passes by.
We want to be a shade canyon, too, where inspired learners can sink their roots deep and reach for the sky.
