Parent Gathering: Waldorf through the Grades

Join us to learn what students will experience as they move through the grades in Waldorf education.

This is a free, adults-only event. We'll have a Spanish translator present, and we'll record the talk for later viewing.

Onsite childcare available for $5 for one child plus $4 per sibling. No one turned away for lack of funds.

We will adhere to current local and state health guidelines.

ABOUT THE TALK:

Teacher Lori Stubben will explain and answer questions about the truly special nature of Waldorf curriculum and methodology, what is meant by teaching the head, heart, and hands, and what it is like to have the same cohort of peers with a teacher that loops through the grades with students.

Lori will be speaking from extensive experience. In 2000, she joined the Waldorf-inspired River Oak Charter School in Ukiah as their first grade teacher during the school’s first year. She stayed with her first class until they graduated from eighth grade in 2008, and then she left to teach first grade and theater in Fukuoka, Japan. Since then, she has taught at both Novato Waldorf Charter School and back at River Oak.

Lori is now working on her masters in US history, constructing her thesis on Shakespeare in America. She enjoys gardening, international and healthy cooking, dance, theater, singing, travel, and fiber arts (weaving, spinning, and knitting). In addition to teaching in Japan, Lori has spent time studying archeology in Israel and Indonesian culture in Java. Most recent travel includes a summer in China and Mongolia and trips to South Korea and Oman. Bringing culture and history to life through the arts is her passion.
